不少人在中年以後，常因心臟病或糖尿病得服用藥物，但醫師提醒，應避免和部分保健食品併用，以免產生交互作用加重病況或服藥無效。
國人愛吃保健食品遠近馳名，不久前，半島電視台到衛生署做亞洲專題，主題就是不法食品、藥物濫用，採訪人員到中部訪問，就鎖定亂吃保健食品弄壞身體的病患。
台北振興醫院心臟內科主任殷偉賢表示，老年人免不了會有心臟毛病，一旦有心房顫動或更換人工心臟瓣膜，常服用抗凝血藥Warfanin以預防中風，但Warfanin和不少保健食品會互相衝突。
台大醫院心臟內科主治醫師王宗道說，Warfanin和阿斯匹靈都有抗凝血作用，如果服用這類藥，又吃保健食品銀杏，很可能會造成大出血，因為銀杏也號稱促進血液循環。
另外，如果吃Warfanin，又服用維生素Ｋ（多數綜合維他命都含有這個成分），王宗道表示，維生素Ｋ的作用是幫助凝血，但Warfanin是抗凝血，兩者作用抵消，就會失去藥效。
在保健食品類中很夯的紅麴，王宗道說，紅麴也不能和降血脂藥Statin併用，因為Statin類藥理，是從紅麴萃取而得，兩者一起吃會加重劑量，血脂會降得太低。
衛生署食品藥物管理局局長康照洲說，日前他聽過一個病例，為降血壓猛吃某種保健食品，後來就醫檢查，卻發現血液查出降血壓藥物成分，顯示有些號稱具療效的保健食品，其實是業者私下羼加藥品，消費者若不察，很可能吃出問題。
